Clear and golden with a bubbly off-white head. Proper decent IPA, big on piney bitterness with orange marmalade malt.

12 oz. bottle, 6.9% ABV, RVA: 02/03/23, EJBY: 06/03/23
AROMA: I get minor scents of citrus and pine, and that's it. Admittedly, the beer is fresh out of the fridge and VERY cold. So maybe the aromas will open up a bit as the beer warms.
APPEARANCE: Pours a hazy orangish-brown, with a one-finger high, white, tightly packed, head that dissipates very slowly with good lacing.
TASTE: I'm first hit with some mild sweet citrus that is then evened out with some mild pine bitterness and just a hint of lemon sourness. However, on the backend, the sweetness completely evaporates and the bitterness significantly intensifies. I very much like the taste as I take each sip, but the bitterness level of the finish just ... well ... leaves a bad taste in my mouth. And it's not that the bitterness level is extreme, as I've had way more bitter beers than this one. It's that there is no other flavor to balance out all that bitterness.
MOUTHFEEL: Medium-bodied with a dry and somewhat tacky texture. Carbonation is on the high side of average.
OVERALL: I've had several of the other Stone brews, and I have enjoyed them. But this one is not going to be one them. With each sip I initially think "Yes, I like this!". But then 3 seconds later, when all that I can taste is pure bitterness, I tell myself, "Nope, not gonna buy this ever again.". I understand that some people will like the bitter factor, but I prefer beers that have flavor that last all the way to the end.

355ml can - Pours an almost clear golden colour with a small diminishing frothy white head. Aroma is hoppy, pine, grapefruit, orange with some caramel and malt notes. A moderately sweet to light sweet and moderately bitter taste, bitter orange, grapefruit, sweet malt, caramel and piney hop flavours and a hoppy bitter finish.

Canned, served in a trappist goblet. A clear copper-hued pour with an ash-white head that leaves a ring for good. Aroma is peach, porridge, arugula. Bone dry onset. Crisp, full-bodied mouthfeel. Incredibly bitter finish (one of the bitterest beers I've had outside the undrinkable 黑 from Mikkeller -sorry if I stepped on some toes.) Very long-lasting finish with hints of conifer resin all over. Clearly over the top.
