Malted barley. This started out as a recipe based on one from the Barclay Perkins brewery from 1855. We’ve tempered the roast character of the original recipe with some chocolate and crystal malts, but the main difference is that this is hopped in the way we would hop our pale ales and IPAs – late kettle additions and dry hopping. The result is a dark brown beer that promises coffee and cocoa, but then the hops bring lightness, brightness and fruit. Hops vary.

Bottle - Dark roast with bittersweet chocolate and some dark fruit. Jet black with a rich brown head. Dark roast, almost burnt, bittersweet chocolate and a hoppy bitterness in the finish. Very good and all the sweeter for this review ties me with FONEFAN. For the moment anyways.

Black with creamy light brown head that leaves some big bubbles. Lots of berries, cocoa, coffee. Very fresh with some grass, rye and citrus. Starts slight sour, then a hint of sweetness and finishes with a long lasting coffee bitterness. Medium bodied with watery feel and full carbonation. Very fresh and complex, nice.

Erg lekkere porter ! --- Beer merged from original tick of Export India Porter Bramling Cross on 24 May 2018 at 15:02 - Score: 8
