Bottle at omhper?s. Opaque black liquid with minimal white head. Aroma of citrus, tangerine, mango, coffee, red wine, wood and red berries. Taste is dry, light to medium bitter and light sour with notes of wood, tannic red wine, citrus, tangerine and red berries. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. The red wine doesn?t complement the rest.

Bottle [from trade with bierkoning] @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque black color, average to medium sized brown head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, dark malts, only slightly a hint of red wine. Taste malts, again only slightly red wine, dark malts, softly bitter. Not a lot to tell but, lightly weird perhaps, somehow quite nice.

0.33 l bottle from ’Stanislaus Brewskovitch’, best before June 2017. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, brown head. Roasty-malty, minimally fruity aroma of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, licorice, tar and maybe minimal hints of red wine. Sweetish, roasty-malty taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, licorice, tar and maybe minimal hints of red wine, followed by a long, warming, peaty and roasty finish. Medium to full body, creamy to oily mouthfeel, flat. Really tasty, don’t get too much of the red wine barrel though (only if you know it - or am I just biased?). It’s actually an Imperial Stout/Porter since the hops are totally gone. By the way, I do not really see a big difference between the red wine and the whiskey version.

At Maakun’s. Black with tan head. Spirited, roasted, dried fruit, moldy, wood, red wine, funky, gluey. Overall moderate bitter, light sour on a sweetish backbone. Mushrooms with chocolate. Weird but nice and smooth. --- Beer merged from original tick of Tsjuster Imperial India Black Ale Barrel Aged Red Wine on 21 Nov 2017 at 15:21 - Score: 7. Original review text: 3.6

Bottle shared thanks to Sinterklaas Bierkoning. Pitch black with short lasting tan head that leaves a little ring of bubbles. Yoghurt, lots of red wine and rotten grapes, green leaves, roasted malts, moldy cocoa beans, lime peel, toast, instant coffee, cream. Under medium sweet with roasted bitter finish and a slight tart note throughout. Full bodied with soft carbination. No longer an IPA, but quite interesting.
