Fin klar lys rød farve. Lukter mandelkjærnepudding med rød saus, tydelig kirsebær, men hvetelukten kommer gjennom, det liker jeg. Smaker ikke for søtt, god smak av kirsebær.

13.07.2013, 0,25l bottle @ home:
Nice semi bubbly mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly concentrated fruity, lots of canned juicy cherries, PEZ cherry candy, grain, caramel. Taste is lots of juicy cherries, sugar, grass. Even though this is a sweet one, there is still a little sourness in it as well. And compared to the really sweet ones, this is actually a little sour. So it’s really more in the between of the sweet ones and the sours. I actually think this one is really nice, refleshing and easy drinking, despite the bad ratings. It’s even a little unfair putting beers like this in the same category as the really sour fruit lambics.

Tydlig körsbärssmak med lite syrlig eftersmak. Klen efterbeska. Känns en aning konstgjord.

Bottle from Yamaichi. Deep crimson with a high, pink, fine head. Straightforward, simple cherry nose, a bit metallic and fake. Sweet cherry flavor, a touch of yogurt, decent tartness. Tasty but too sweet and too simple.

2012 Vintage at Eb’s
Bright reddish pink color with a bubbly white head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of cherries, no shit huh? Sweet and sour with a solid shot of lactic and a hint of funk. The flavor is quite tart with lemons and sour cherries balance a little by some sweet fruitiness and a hint of almond. Medium to light body with a tart sour mouthfeel and a crisp level of carbonation. Nice brew a bit tart and somewhat one dimensional but its quite tasty.
1952 Vintage at Eb’s
An incredible treat to try these side by side, Thanks Chris! Visibly darker and paler color without much of a head. The smell is musty and funky with a light non descript fruitiness. Sherry and hints of wet cardboard round out the aroma. The flavor is earthy musty and funky. There are hints of caramel, fruit, and sherry to round out the flavor. Medium body with a light level of carbonation and a sticky funky mouthfeel. The 52 has obviously gone through drastic changes over the years, very interesting to compare these side by side. My favorite blend was about 1/3 old to 2/3 new.

33cl bottle. Pours bright cherry cola colour with a nice layer of lace. The nose is of amaretti, bakewell tart and cherry stone. The taste has more cherry stone, almonds and cherry flavoured cough sweets. The tangy texture makes this and it is carried through to the end. A good example of why cherry is the right fruit for this style of beer.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. It pours clear red, with a thin pink-white head. The nose is sweet cherry, artificial notes, cherry tunes, sweet strawberry and plastic. The taste has an initial tartness to it, then sweet cherry, strawberry, tangy lime, balsamic and jam, with a sweet finish. Medium body, prickly carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Taste better than it smells anyway. Not too bad.

Aroma of cherries that have been bathed in syrup waiting to be added to a cocktail. Fresh....but cloying and slightly processed. Hazy amber with an off-white head that seems to hold together at first, but stumbles quickly and disappears except around the edges. Tartness predominates the flavor profile with cherry more restrained than on the aroma. Some malt seems to dance with the cherry to give it a more balanced flavor. Somewhat like a flavored cough drop on the finish. Not my style, but not displeasing either.
