Adelscott was the first beer flavored and coloured by peat-smoked whiskey malt. Since then, it has inspired enough breweries to make this a sub-category among the smoked beers.

Can from Carrefour, Nice. Deep amber colour, or whisky coloured for arguments sake. Has no head. Has a small malt-whisky aroma, although probably not a great one if you’re a whisky lover. Slightly sweet tasting and the strength is not too evident, but average rather than great.

From bottle to glass at Au General Lafayette. Aroma and flavor are both whisky and smoked peat. Malt and mouthfeel are very light. Not a lot here except the smoked malt. Boring, and a little tough to get through a 12-ouncer, but not terrible. Color is off slightly aged whisky.

Appearance: Clear deep golden color with a small white heahat end up in a tiny layer. Some lacing.
Aroma: Mild fruity, malty and mild scotch.
Palate: Medium (+) body. Slightly sweet and a moderate bitterness. Average to soft carbonation.
Taste: Malty, raisins, fruity and a mild scotch.
Overall impression: Not my style. And I have never rated a beer that have 0 in style before. It was absolutely drinkable. Nothing wrong with it, but not anything to write home about either.
Personal stats: Can from Gundersen.

330ml Flasche. Ins Glas ergießt sich ein bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch leicht nach Whiskeymalz, süß, Karamell. Geschmack leicht nach Torf, süß, malzig.

50 cl can from Cora. Beer in the glass is amber, smell is sweet-malty. The beer starts sweet-smoked. The smoky-malty notes are nice, but the sweetness is too much - it covers nearly all of the nice smokey flavours and leaves a sticky sweetish mouthfeel. Aftertaste is mainly sweet, smokey flavours covered.... --> sadly much too sweet! won’t drink it again... --> 4/12/3/3

I wasn’t sure what to expect here, and like those who loved it, it’s pretty good. It can’t be compared to others and needs to eb addressed on it’s own qualities. Nice rich golden color with creamy head, aroma of wood and toffee, taste of caramel, peat, butterand wood. Smooth and oily texture, this is really different French beer.

Bottle sample at a tasting at avrashi’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Clear deep golden. Aroma has some whiskey, a bit smoked, a bit of honey and some graininess. Sickly sweet flavor with lots of honey, some graininess and a hint of whiskey in the finish. Light to medium-bodied.

Fra flaske på Les Destillieries Idéales, Nice 14 Okt 12. Gyldenbrun. OK luftig skum som varer en stund. Bra, litt søtlig whiskyaroma. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken er papp med en kvalmende søt ettersmak. Like dårlig som forventet.

Bottled. Amber colored beer with minimal white head. Aroma of old malt, some wood, earthy notes. Sweet lemonade taste with sugar, caramel malt, hints of lemon. Sweetness overlapped all other aspects of this drink. Blah.
