Adelscott was the first beer flavored and coloured by peat-smoked whiskey malt. Since then, it has inspired enough breweries to make this a sub-category among the smoked beers.

Clear amber beer, good white head. Sweet peaty nose. Light soft palate, a little dry. Sweet lactose creamy malt and sweet peat. Nothing much else going on here. Different and surprisingly drinkable.

33cl Bottle, birthday gift as I wanted whisky and beer. I guess you get what you ask for... Clear copper amber colour, white head. Aroma of sugar, cotton candy, vanilla, grainy malts, light lager-like. Flavour is very sweet, light smoke that fades quickly, caramel, sugar, corn, sweet whisky finish with some vanilla. Light bodied. Would be agreeable if it wasn’t so sweet.

33cl bottle. Pours amber-gold with steady bubbles and a very thin head. The noseis really subtle, with sweet malt aromas eventually coming through. The taste is of toffee, hazelnuts and cereal, like a toffee crisp bar in fact. The palate is medium bodied, not so refreshing but very drinkable. My overall impression is that it actually really grows on me.
