Adelscott was the first beer flavored and coloured by peat-smoked whiskey malt. Since then, it has inspired enough breweries to make this a sub-category among the smoked beers.

Amber with white head. Strong malty sharp/harsh/sweet sugary/smokey aroma and taste. Sweet cloying sticky mouthfeel. Little thin body. Slight alcohol warmth. Sour sweaty Pork chops - like Mama never maked em’. To put it short - I dont like this! Strange - no match!

golden orange, sweet malt nose, sweet malt hint of whiskey but much sweeter despite not actually containing whiskey from what i could tell.

50 cL can. Pours with off-white creamy head. Colour is clear peachy (orange into pale red). Aroma is all that one expects from a good whisky: rope, smoke, fishingboat and tar. Taste has the same but drowned in sweetness. Strange thing to blend it like that. Bitter finish. Won’t return - strange combination in taste while the aroma is promising after a strange colour.

Bottled. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is caramel, slight wooden hints and some barnyard. Flavour is very sweet caramellish malts, with slight hops. Absolutely no connection to whisky, except for the slight wooden hints, that can be from an oak cask or something...

Poured a golden amber with bubbly white head, lots of carbonation. Sour smoked malt and grain aroma. Sweet spicy whiskey malt flavor.

(Draught at Clichy Tavern, Paris, 13 Oct) Golden yellow colour with small white head. Malty nose with sweet honey notes and a hint of smoke. Malty taste dominated by honey and sweetness, understated and slightly artificial smokiness. Drinkable but too sweet for me. (But seriously, this is not a Scottish ale)

500ml can from Auchan, Calais. Crystal clear amber, whisky colour. Lasting thin off white head. Rubbery malt aroma. Some sweetness in mouth. Some hops on end. Sweet rubbery malty beer. Bit thin in terms of depth. Um don’t think that I like this.

Bottle. Clear golden colour. Quite smokey flavour, not that pleasant. Herring aftertaste.

Süßlich-aromatischer-alkoholischer Geruch. Test vom 19.6.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 7,6,6,4,9,6 - 5,95

Bottle: Copper coloured; thin but lasting head; smoky, brandy-like nose, traces of caramel and burnt malts; initial sweet, (smoked-) malty taste; sweetish flavour; short sweet finish with traces of charcoal and some bitterness coming really very late. Too sweet and kind of "artificial"..................
