(bottle) Clear and pale copper colour with a medium foamy slightly off-white head. Sweet malty nose with a touch of whisky smokiness (iodine, leather). Sweet malty flavour, medium body, almost lively carbonation. Starts with smoky malty taste and soft sweetness that becomes stronger towards the finish but is restrained a bit by the sharp carbonation. I like it.

(Bottle 33 cl) Beautiful, deep amber with a huge, stable head. Smoked aroma, pronounced sweet flavour and notes of whisky-malt (and strangely also of rum). Surprisingly weak body for such a strong beer. 261001

A beer that teaches the lesson to read the label. Since this beer is made with whisky malt, it is more reminiscent of a scotch and water than a beer. The aroma reminds me of an Islay scotch (peat, salty, iodine). The flavor is smokey and peaty but finishes rather sweet which is a bit disconcerting. Head is full. This reminds me of Laphroig or Bowmore initially but finishes too sweet. If you want a typical beer, skip this one but isn’t bad if you like Islay scotches or smokey flavor.

The aroma is of rope, tar, peat, and malt with notes of sweetness. My daughter of seven thinks it smells like me!?! The color is red-orange and it has a fine but collapsing head. The flavor is way too sweet, but with nice notes of malt, peat, rope, and tar. This beer would be great if it wasn’t so sweet. It is lovely complex with great accents, but the sweetness from the added candy sugar kills the greatness, but I still think it is an interesting beer to sample.

I kind of wondered what kind of beer this was, as the label was in French. I guess "whisky" means the same thing in both languages. Clear pale brown color with a thin light tan head. Very little lacing. The aroma is a perplexing mixture of smoke, alcohol and sweet caramel. The flavor can best be described as charred malt and bile. I could barely get down a mouthful of this stuff. Maybe the clear bottle is to blame, or maybe this is just a horrid beer. The finish is nasty and had me burping smoke flavor the rest of the evening. Truly an awful experience.

I found it funny to get this bottle at the airport and take it for matching my sandwich in the train, after so many years since the last time I had it.
Golden color; medium sized creamy head. The smell is not encouraging: too much paper and corn, with a whiff of smoked malt, but nothing as smoked and sweet as I remember from the 90’s, when it was one of the most widely available and common beers back in my hometown. The body is quite weak; there is a cornish flavor, sweet as Adelscott is supposed to be, with a moderate smoke touch. The bitterness is absent. Good only to bring back memories, otherwise, let go.
