Brewed with respect for the brewing traditions of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, this Vivat Blonde is a “Bière de Garde” beer. This means that it has a longer maturation time than a "classic" beer between brewing and sale. Vivat Blonde is brewed exclusively with pure barley malt and is brewed the old-fashioned way, with skimming of hop flowers carried out by hand and in an open fermentation tank. EBC 13.

330ml bottle from appellation wines - cheers Ash! Pours a hazy golden yellow with good white head, high carbonation. Aromas of hay, spice and honey. Taste has a honeyed sweetness, and lingering light bitterness, white pepper and lemon. Medium bodied, refreshing and good.

33cl bottle from the Hogs Back Brewery Shop, Tongham. Hazy amber with a billowing white head and heavy carbonation; slightly sour grainy aroma; soft in the mouth with a sweet grainy body and some sour flavours; before a clean, floral, finish and some gently warming alcohol. Very pleasant.

33cl bottle from Alko Arkadia. Pours hazy golden, thin, but lasting white head, bubbly. Orange in aroma as I poured into glass. Also dusty, mushroomy notes. Quite pleasant. Light fruity flavor with yeast, spicyness, orange and a lingering fruity light bitter finish . Simple and enjoyable, clean and round mouthfeel. Feels lighter than 6,5% ABV

Pours clear orange with a smooth white head. Aroma of strong herbal and floral notes, hay, yeast, manure and spices. Taste is smooth, fruity, yeasty with some floral notes, spices and grass. Finish is slightly yeasty and fruity with some spiciness and floral notes. Decent, but the aroma is a bit off-putting.

Bottle, from Hogsback store, at JF’s Calcutta Cup mini tasting - 02/02/13. Clear light golden with a good sized frothy white head that retains well. Nose is pale malt, honey, citrus, spice, light caramel, earthy tones. Taste follows, honey, citrus, herbal qualities, spice, grass. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, some bitterness in the dry finish. Ok drinkable stuff.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BBE 30/05/14, from Alko Arkadia, 20130130) The beer poured pale golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness and sugary sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, Belgian style yeast, spiciness, grass, malts and bitteness. Aftertaste was fruity, mildly spicy, sweet and bitter. Not so bad bière de garde. Aftertaste was too harsh.

33cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours blonde with a nice haze and a big head. The nose has grass, green apples and kiwi sorbet. This is definitely yeast dominated. The taste has lemon sorbet and stem ginger with a savoury yoghurt note towards the end. The palate is medium bodied with a nice creamy texture and a dry yeasty finish. It’s balanced. Overall, a well made beer.

Bottle, 75cl corked. A golden colored, almost clear beer topped by a dense, off-white head leaving lacings. The aroma has oranges and a little maltyness, but is mostly on the fruity side. Quite pleasant, but a tad dull, especially when it’s repeating in the flavor. Pale malts in the back with oranges and a generic fruityness up front. Not much bitterness going on, neither initially nor in the end. Fruity and orange tasting finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. A refreshing and quite tasteful beer, but rather boring and uninspiring, like a regular Belgian style blond. 120203
