Bottle, 5.5%. Slightly hazy red with tiny pink head. Aroma is malt, raspberries, fruit, tart and sour. Flavor is malt, raspberries, lemon, sour, tart, raspberries seed, little dry, medium sweet and a little citric.

(375ml bottle from MIkkeller Webshop) Pours fairly clear dark reddish-pink with a small ring of pink-white bubbles that lasts and leaves light lace. Aroma is massively tart raspberry flesh, cranberry, red currant, berry seeds, light wet funk and earth, and oak. Rather sour and fruity tart on the palate, with raspberry juice to the fore as expected. Some sour cherry and lactic citrus notes. Dry, moderate oaky character and a light earthy funk to it. Sour all the way to the finish with persistent fruit, but the oak and some raspberry seeds contribute a light drying bitterness to the aftertaste. Fairly light bodied with soft but effervescent carbonation. Very clean and fruity, refreshing.

Tap @ Orla holding the Hood Down, Sanderslum, 2016. Pours Deep red with a white head. Intense raspberries, cherries and funk. Woody and dry. Tasty and very clean!

Bottle from the brewery in Denver. It’s a beautiful ruby red color with a thick pink head of foam and an awesomely tart vibrant raspberry including the seeds. Medium bodied with a light dry finish. The taste is acidic, fresh raspberries, juicy, nutty (pine nuts?) and paired wonderfully with a cherry tart. I gotta say after impressing me at Hills Farmstead’s Festival of Farmhouse Ales this is helping solidify Crooked Stave as one of my favorite American Sour breweries. Paired with the cherry tart, the breadiness cuts the acidity and the cherries play off the raspberries in a fun way.

Bright cranberry red color, cloudy, with no head, a few large bubbles. Strong raspberry aroma, manure, quite strong raspberry flavor too, aggressive acidity, mild earthy/manure note, more juicy but also astringent in the final.

Tasting at Alex’s. 375ml bottle from Elizabeth Station. Pours a rose color with a white head. Aroma is funky, sour, dry with raspberry notes. Taste is sour, tart with raspberry notes. Dry, raspberry notes aftertaste. Pleasant.

This beer is a slightly hazy bright ruby color with a medium pinkish-white head that dissipates steadily to a film. Stringy lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of tart berries, yeast and malt. Light to medium body with a sour raspberry character and notes of earhy yeast and malt. The finish is moderately tart with a lingering raspberry aftertaste. Good beer all around.
