Phi is a pale strong beer, skillfully balanced between sweet and sour due to the addition of 40% of wheat to the grain bill. Phi is part of the “Omega – Phi – Sigma” trilogy which matures in stainless steel tanks where the Morpheus yeast imparts a refreshing sourness. Phi is a good stepping stone for those who want to familiarize themselves with our Flemish Sour Ales.

Bottle at Churchkey, thanks to travlr? Thanks! Poured a hazy amber color with a small white head. Aroma was light sweet notes, lemon zest. Light tartness, some sweet malt and a strong yeasty character.

Leichter Multivitamingeruch. Dies ist auch im Antrunk erkennbar, danach säuerliche helle Fruchtnoten, etwas Zitrus. Spritzig, gut! 12/12/11/11//12

On tap @ Haandfest 2014. This is a really cloudy orange one this. No head what soever. Lots of citrus on the nose. Grapefruit zest, sweet orange juice and some balancing sweetness in the back. Really nice aroma. Lots of flavor also. Sharp citrus acidity. Almost kinda sour in a way. Not only almost, it is quite sour this. Refreshing as well. Light oily in the mouth and it actually has some prickling bubbles. Sharp, slightly tart and some vinegar to finish it off. Quite nice and elegantly refreshing stuff. 24.05.2014

Bottle from De Hopduvel. Amber colour, white foam. Soft carbonation. Fruity aroma with notes of sour apples. Also some vinegar. Light sweet with sour aftertaste. Where is the 10% alcohol? Well balanced. Good sour ale!
