Bottle 330ml (Alko, batch #642-3)
Side by side with "Imperial Porter". Deep ruby color, almost opaque, small beige head. "Imperial Porter" had chocolaty nose, this one doesn’t have chocolate but more bready malty, alcoholic and even some Unicum notes. Medium-bodied. Feels a bit more robust than "Imperial Porter". Bready, alcoholic but with nice toasted maltyness in the finish. This one has worse aroma but better flavor.

330 ml bottle from my European Local Swap 2/2015 sender VastActiv. Thanks a lot Janne!
Dark brown to black body, with a small, creamy, dark beige head.
Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, caramel, cocoa powder, some ash, some dried fruits.
Tastes of coffee, ash, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, dark fruits, some liquorice.
Medium, quite creamy mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes roasty-bitter, dry, with coffee, cocoa, some liquorice, some hops.

Tasty. Full, dark and quite complex, but also pretty easy to drink. Alcohol is completely hidden. Really satisfying strong Porter!

(Bottle, 0.33 l - erä #642-3 - BB 1.5.2016, from Alko, 20150430) The beer poured clear and nearly black. Its head was medium sized and whit. Aroma had burnt malts, pine, liquorice and mildly sea water. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, pine, fruitiness, liquorice, saltiness and ash. Aftertaste had burntness, liquorice and bitterness. A good hoppy strong porter. Nice liquorice in both the taste and the aroma.

330ml bottle from Alko

BBE 1.6.2016 - Pours dark brown, almost black with a small head. Aroma of licorice, roasty malts, hops, hints of menthol and mint chocolate. Taste is smooth, roasty and hoppy with some notes of licorice, dark chocolate and cocoa. Finish is roasty, slightly hoppy and smooth with some bitterness, dark chocolate and licorice. Pretty good and balanced, although quite close to their other recent imperial porters.

Almost black, a head is quite weak and beige. Aroma has liquirice, nice roastiness, some fresh fruits and pine forest. Taste is quite similar than aroma. Black coffee, liquirice, some fruits and pine. Quite low bitterness is still drying the taste. Medium+ bodied, low carbonation. More balanced than Stadin Imperial Porter without "American" in the name. Liquirice and coffee.

Tap@ Brewdog Helsinki. Poured black with a light brown head. Roasty aroma, oatmeal, licorice in aroma. Flavor has licorice, roasted malt, hops, tobacco. Long roasty finish. Just enough sweetness. Great porter. Hint of smoke as well. Medium bodied.

Draught @ Black Door as ”Stadin American Imperial Porter
Chalkboard said 10,5%, which apparently was a mistake
Aroma is quite light with fruity hops, licorice and grapefruit. Flavour is has rather aggressive hops with grapefruit, some licorice and mellow ashy tones. Also some salmiac and pear juice as this warms up. Hides the ABV very well. Feels messy and yeasty at the end of the glass. A black IPA this is.

Draught @ Brewdog Helsinki as ”Stadin Imperial Porter”
Aroma is odd with buttery tones, gooseberry bush and mellow licorice tones. Flavour starts rather hoppy with grapefruit and gooseberry bush. Then it turns into licorice and ash. Feels rather thin for this ABV. Alcohol is present only on palate and in my throat - rather unusual. I can feel it but I cannot taste it. Closer to a black IPA than porter.
