Hints of malt

On tap at the Lagerhaus. Thanks, Cubs and Leighton, for sharing! Pours dark, brownish-orange, with a large, foamy, khaki head. Smells of brown bread, allspice, rye, butterscotch, and ripe bananas. Big, malty sweetness, with a touch of hoppy bitterness to balance. Medium body, with a smooth, clean, and malty mouthfeel. This is a simple, malt-forward Oktoberfestbier. Very well made.

Keg at the brewery. Pours clear copper with a creamy, off-white head. The nose has a nice, rounded character of toasted cereal, caramel, bread. Medium sweet flavour, a bit sugary, some ripe berries, brown sugar, low bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish, subtly syrupy, with more toasted cereal, brown bread and caramel. Not bad, but a bit sweet.
