Every year the brewers of Indiana do a replicAle (everyone uses the same recipe and ingredients) and brings it to the Microbrewer's Fest and this was our version. It's a farmhouse Belgian Saison ale. A farmhouse beer means that you've used whatever ferments were available to you, therefore the recipe contains Shagbark hickory syrup made only in Trafalgar, Indiana. It's fruity and medium bodied with the familiar tart character contributed by the Belgian yeast.

Draft at Broad Ripple. Nice orange color that carries through a bit in the flavor. Slightly tart and dry start gives way to a chewy, syrupy and woody taste. Not much head to speak of. Finished nice and peppery. After going through all of their samplers, this was the beer I had for a full pint before closing.
