Our friends at Woodstock beach bar have built a pirate ship on top of their bar this year, so we searched the seven seas to create a brew for them which would grace any pirate galley. We finally struck gold with Booty, a dunkelweizen perfect for sinking as the sun goes down. Yo-ho-hops blow in fresh aromas of coconut, tropical fruit and blackcurrant, while we threw in ginger, cloves, cinnamon and sumac to give a taste of the exotic islands pirates crossed in search of treasure.

0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', bottled in April 2019. Hazy, dark amber with a thin, slightly fluffy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, gently fruity, slightly spicy and a little yeasty aroma of caramel, ginger, nutmeg and some orange peel. Just moderately sweet, slightly bitter, gently fruity, slightly spicy and a little yeasty taste of caramel, ginger, nutmeg, nuts and some bread crust, followed by a short, quite bitter, gently spicy and a little yeasty finish. Thin to medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Unnecessary.

Cloudy deep amber to brown colour. Sticky off white head with some lacing. Aroma's of speculaas spices - clove, cinnamon, nutmeg - and some banana. Retronasal there's notably ginger and nutmeg with some wheaty sourness. Flavour is light bitter, herbal, with a hint of wheaty sourness. Light medium bodied. Finishes with a medium herbal/spicy bitterness. Pleasant.

Tap at Kaapse 5Y Anniversary, happy birthday! Hazy amber with white head. Sweet cookie, speculaas, coriander, moderate sweet and bitter. Medium body and soft carbonation. Soft creamy feels.

Tap at Kaapse festival. Hazy light brown with off white head. Quite some spices, cinnamon, allspice, wheat, bready, caramel, cloves, leaves. Under medium sweet and bitter. Over light bodied.
