Dark Web – a Black IPA that is the beer that never was. Originally due to debut in mid-March 2020 we racked a small amount in keg and cask and were about to package the rest in can, when the line broke down and we were told the part would take a couple of days to be replaced.

And then the world stopped. A few kegs made it out to cellars, but sadly most of the brew was poured away and it was gone, until now.

A truly delightful and intriguing Black IPA – close your eyes and the journey begins on a silky road with undertones of roasted grains and hints of freshly roasted arabica beans, luring you into an abundance of lavish spicy citrus and resinous pine. Hopped with a perfect balance of Centennial, Galaxy and Mosaic.

Can at home, 7th January 23. Pours really deep black and fairly viscous. Aroma is roasted malts, cocoa and green hops, musty. Taste is light cocoa, roasted malts, bitter citrus and green hops, aromatic, great flavours and balance, good BIPA, I like the brewery

16/5/2020. Sample courtesy of minutemat, cheers Mat! Pours just about black with a small lasting frothy beige head. Very nice aroma. Pine, hop, roasted malt, touch of coffee and nut, fruit, caramel and chocolate. A little earthy and ashy. Moderate sweetness and mellowing bitterness. Medium body, soft carbonation. Good brew.

Mini-keg growler fill, many thanks to Simon for keeping me some of this! Pitch black appearance, nice foamy tan head. Aroma has mild roast, modest pine. Taste sees soft resinous flourishes amid a nice roasted malt backbone. Great balance, cask-level carbonation, very drinkable.
