On tap at Café Sara, Oslo. Pitch black with a beige head. Spicy aroma with dark malts, reminds me of ’krydderkake’. Roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruits, vanilla, coffee and spices. Medium sweet with lots of flavour, but quite balanced. Liquid cake and liquid dessert. Certainly a nice one...

Appearance: More or less black color with a fine tan head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Coffee, chocolate and christmasish spices.
Palate: Medium to full body. Tad sweet and a moderate bitterness. Soft carbonation.
Taste: Fruity, coffee, chocolate , cinnamon + other Christmas spices and vanilla.
Overall impression: Smooth, tasty and really fresh. Make more of this please. My first from Christanssand outside of Kristiansand.

Put on tap just as we were visiting Café Sara, shared with Oda and Rebecca. Good amount of lacework on the glassware from a medium-sized brownish head. Jet black coloured body. Smell of creamy, vanilla-like chocolate, liquorice, and pine. Fine blended flavour character of vanilla chocolate, coffee beans and pine needles. Malt bitter tail. Velvety in the mouth. Well bodied. Enjoying stuff (Oslo 28.03.2014).

On tap @ the brewpub. Perfect pitch black body with a nice, stable, lacing, big, creamy mocha colored head. Aroma is strong and quite complex, dark malt, dark chocolate, coffee, dry fruit, cinnamon and bark. The flavor is very sweet, but has such a good balanced that it never feels sticky, just delicious. Extremely smooth and soft malt, almost like cream, dark malt, chocolate, coffee, dry fruit, spices like cinnamon and balanced bitterness. Alcohol is totally hidden; this is just like a complex dessert by itself. Full body and long lasting aftertaste. Great beer, need more.

Draught @ Christianssand Brygghus, Kristiansand
Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of tonga beans, cinnamon rolls, roasted malt and chocolate. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long creamy smooth chocolate, bitter and tonga bean finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap at the brewpub. Looking lovely in the glass, sexy actually, with a creamy finger-thick dark beige head leaving curtains. Black body. The aroma is equally lovely, tonka beans in a stout is such a good idea I think. Some coffee and mocha, as well as dark dried fruits. Hops are present too. Quite sweet flavor, but it’s mostly on the malty side, with the tonka beans playing the major part. Full body and a pleasant carbonation. Lasting finish with roasted malts, bitterness, coffee and tonka. I guess you have to love tonka beans to love this beer. I do. And having this after a nice main course you don’t need the dessert. 140321
