Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is fairly sharp rum barrel with sweet caramel malt, dried fruits, raisins, some figs, and alcohol. Flavour is sweet with warming alcohol in the finish. Body is medium. Lacks balance, this is pretty unrefined barrel aging.

Tap at Stadsbrouwhuis, Leiden: Hazy brown/amber colored brew with an medium sweet bitter taste, the hints of rum are there but faintly and the figs are noticeable after trying to detect it.

Bottle. Dark brown color. Soft herbal notes, toffee, rum and Apple in the aroma. Tinner. Malty sweet alcoholic flavor. Green apples. Soft herbal notes. Rum. Not the best example of barrel aging.

This is exactly why rum BA beers are not my favourite, too many breweries doing it badly and cheaply and making disgusting stuff. Super solventy and glue'ish, some weird off sourness in there as well. Thin, no figs, no bock. A mess.

Tap at Haagse Biermarkt. Clear mahogany with beige head. Lots of rum, light smoke, caramel, figs, booze, vanilla, dry old wood, dusty herbs. Over medium sweet, medium bitter and light tart. Over medium bodied and slight dry feel.

Tap at Arendsnest. Dark ruby colour, medium-sized beige head. Nose has strong booze and rhum raisins. Medium-bodied. Raisins, berries, rhum and booze. Quite simple. Needs ice cream on side and cellaring. Now too much alcohol.

Bottle from Dorst, Den Haag. Poured a hazy reddish brown colour with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is sweet malts, red berry fruits, raisins, big oaky rum notes. The flavour is moderate sweet with a smooth, rich, sweet malt, fruity, warm boozy alcohol bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle at home. Clear brown with no head. Sweet malts, rum, dried fruits, booze, sour rotten oak, salmiak. Quite sweet and bitter, some salty shaggy tobacco and light sour rotting oakwood. Medium body and low carbonation. Boozy and unbalanced monster from the barrel. Uncle Funkle’s nasty moonshine. Destiny lies in the drain. --- Beer merged from original tick of Bocks With Figs - Rum Barrel Aged on 21 Nov 2018 at 13:29 - Score: 5
