Purple Haze® is a lager brewed with real raspberries added after filtration. It is brewed with pilsner and wheat malts and Vanguard hops. The berries add a fruity aroma, tartly sweet taste and a subtle purple color and haze...you may see fruit pulp in the beer. This beer is best served with salads or light fruit desserts, such as soufflés or chiffon cakes. Many people enjoy it with chocolate desserts. Purple Haze® pairs well with certain cheeses, such as ripened Brie or any dessert made with mascarpone. It’s also great paired with entrees prepared with fruit, especially citrus. Consider enjoying Purple Haze® alone at the end of your meal as dessert.

Pours rather unclear amber . No real head . Smell is Lager , with raspberries . Taste is somewhat harsh , light bitterness . Raspberry extract, some sugar as well . drinkable, but nothing more than that . Light mouthfeel

[backlog] 08-12-15 / bottle at Shady Pines Saloon, Sydney. I remember it as a quite good fruity wheat beer. A bit to sweet. I started rating my beers with Untappd and a few basic notes. Now I want to rate them on ratebeer. So my rating sometimes lack some information. Just ignore it, it is for my personal statistics. Untappd-Rating: 4/5

1st impression not good. Calls itself a malt beverage with raspberry added. 355ml bottle into glass. Slight fruit nose, not bad. Looks great, creamy head, cloudy amber beer. Tastes like good malt with strong clean Raspberry/hop finish. Not amazing but seems very sessionable.

Pours amber with a fading head.Nose shows raspberries and raspberry jam alongside some soft sweet malt. A little artificial seeming.Flavours include cardboar malt notes, cereal grains and a raspberry lolly character.Body feels watery, carbonation is much too low.

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a decent hazy brown to a glossy looking purple perhaps (do I really want to say that, well, okay, I will). There’s a decent one finger white foamy head that dissipates within about less than thirty seconds with a fizzy sound. There’s no lacing whatsoever.
The smell has a fairly decent raspberry-esque aroma flowing over some light grainy/wheat tones.
The taste took those flavors and adds a nice light sweet feel.
On the palate, this one sat fairly light but could also be construed as a medium in body. I would say this was for the most part fairly sessionable.
Overall, hey not a bad fruit beer whatsoever, the wheat helps to balance it a bit and make it somewhat enjoyable, however Abita doesn’t distribute to my current neck of the woods so I probably won’t be seeing this again for a while.

Bottle in a random Cajun/Creole restaurant in Houston. It pours reddish amber with a small off-white head. The nose is sweet raspberry, wheat, earth and hint of spice perhaps....but not a whole lot. The taste is sweet, raspberry, doughy, caramel, wheat, banana?, light bitterness and a touch of toast with a short, dryish finish. Light to medium body and average carbonation. Pretty one-dimensional. Straight forward sweet fruit beer. A bit artificial feeling.Not for the likes of me....

Bottle pour. Pours a light reddish blonde with a raspberry aroma. Very light bodied beer with strawberry and raspberry flavors. Light wheat on the finish with more light fruit. Not a whole lot special going on with this one. It wasn’t bad.

Bottle 12fl.oz. @ cgarvieuk [ Lets do a chrisO Tasting ], Edinburgh, Scotland. [ As Abita Purple Haze ].Unclear matt medium yellow orange color with a small average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, herbs, vegetables. Flavour is moderate sweet with a average duration, berry, raspberry, artificial. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
