Wettre Bayer is a malt driven dark brown lager with a nice malt sweetness and low bitterness.
The bayer has long traditions in Norway, and was in the time before first world war considered the Norwegian folk beer.
This is our take on this traditional beer where we used a nice mix of Munic, Pilsner, Caramunic and Carafa malts.
For the bittering and aroma hops we used traditional Czech Saaz hops. Bayer is a very versatile beer that goes well with fish, Poultry, beef, cheese and sweet dark deserts.
A classic combo is mussels steamed in bayer. Please be aware that this is a lager beer that will benefit for some weeks in the bottle before its start to shine:-)

440 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Hazy dark brown colour, moderate beige head. Aroma of malts, brown bread, roasted nuts and caramel. Flavour with the same elements, not too sweet, with a slight bitterness (more roasty than hoppy) in the dry finish.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma of nuts, brownies, coffee and some tobacco and forest floor. Flavour of bread crust, nuts, heather and some cocoa and coffee. Has a slick mouth feel, light to medium body and a light bitterness. Tasteful but a little infected.

Bottle. It pours an unclear chestnut colored body under a dense, finger thick beige head. The aroma is lightly roasted and earthy, with toffee, bread and a hint of something peat-like. It's medium bodied, semi-dry and softly carbonated, with flavors of bread, toffee, roasted malts and some earthy hints. Long make driven finish. Hints of sulphur. A decent one indeed, but a bit sweet perhaps.190301
