Last of my Butcher's Tears stash, takeaways from Craft Theory fest, Reading. A hazy fruit and smoke aroma. Opaque dark chestnut. Bubbly beige head, starts off creamy but soon shrinks. The liquorice comes through straight away before medium-heavy bitterness kicks in. As per the aroma There's a hazy smokiness. Light bodied. Slick. Average carbonation. Long finish with an astringent bite. Decent enough but slightly overdoes the bitterness in terms of overall balance.

Bottle @ home. Deep ruby red-brown color, mostly clear. Big rocky light beige head with good retention. Aroma's: sweetish, herbal, a bit musty / woody, light red fruit and roast. Retronasal: herbs, sweetish, light woody/musty. Flavor is moderate sweet, molasses indeed, light herbal bitter. Medium bodied. Moderate bitter finish.
