We are excited to introduce you to out latest collaboration, brewed with out dear fiends from DOK Brewing. Whats up DOK is a rich and decadent imperial stout brewed pilsner, pale chocolate malts and lactose. To give it a fruity aroma we added cherries and raspberries during fermentation. The result is a rich and flavorful aroma of chocolate and cocoa, balanced out by the fruit.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to snifter.
Appearance: pours like motor oil and retains the black color in the glass with a thin cap of a tan foamy head which dissipated inward and didn't leave any lace
Aroma: rich milk chocolate and dark chocolate invade cherry and raspberry tart and sweet characters, subtle coffee roast and sweetness further in the back. Light toffee in there too.
Flavor: blends all the prior mentioned aromas to a nice sweet, tart and roasty quality; mild finish of milk chocolate, cherries and raspberries
Texture: medium bodied, good sipper, very smooth along the tongue and the tart harshness is very low
Overall: a very nicely done impy pastry stout I would be willing to come back to.

Thank you Chris for this can - Black with a brown head - Dark malt with chocolat and berry aroma - Dark malt body with chocoalte and a nice berry flavour as well - The dark malt and berries continues into a long finish with hints of alcohol heat - This was good

Pours black, small, fast fading tanned head. Scent is full, roasty, tartness from the fruits. Smooth. Taste is full, roasty, mild nuts. Mild marzepan. A touch of fruits. OK. Not my style of pastry, but well made.

Pastry stout brewed at good old Norwegian Haandbryggeriet in collaboration with Dok from my home town of Ghent, available from cans now at Dok’s Hal 16. Thanks Meeki for sharing. Deep ruddy-mocha coloured, open, dissipating head on a jet black beer. Aroma of caramel liqueur, beef stock, walnut oil, brownies, liquorish, marshmallows, black cherries, old dusty almonds, dry tree leaves, black cherries. Very sweet onset, a bit on the sticky side (but hey, it’s a pastry stout after all), candied fig under impressions of marshmallows and ‘speculoos’, softly carbonated with thick, syrupy body; toffeeish, Ersatz-chocolatey, almondy maltiness with a chocolatey core, finally revealing the added fruit – in a sweet, syrupy, jam- or coulis-like way, raspberry as in grenadine, plum candy. This accentuates the sweetness even further, lingering on with a warming, port-like alcohol heat and almost no discernable hop bitterness. Fruit cake stout of sorts, and even if I could argue that the fruit could be better exposed with a dash more sourness to alleviate the heavy sweetness, it was the ‘side effects’ that bothered me most – the beef stock-like umami, and that earthy, herbal, leafy aspect I remember from the Haandbryggeriet beers I had in the past. Acceptable for what it is, but could have been much better for me.
