4 oz draft pour at Birch and Barley. Poured a clear ruby brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma was slightly smoky, with some meaty bacon character. Flavor was nice caramel character, roasted malts. Mostly mellow, which was quite nice. Thankfully not over-the-top liquid smoke notes.

500ml swing-top bottle. Filtered caramel burgundy body. Foamy, glass lacing head. One of the more straight-forward, down the middle examples of the style. Smoky caramel amber malt aroma. Smooth caramel malt tones. OK, not really as good as Bamberg examples.

Draft at Churchkey. Hazy chestnut color, tan head. Nice aroma of lightly toasted ham. Taste is more beer than smoke, decent stuff.

Vom Faß im Brauereigasthof in Zeil am Main. - Tiefes Kastanienbraun mit goldenem Schimmer, klar; sahniger beigefarbener Schaum. - In der Nase deutlicher „schwarzer“ Rauch (Buchenrauch), aber auch schön fruchtig zitroniger Hopfen. - Antrunk röstmalzig und vollmundig karamelsüß mit kräftiger Rauchnote. Dahinter deutlicher fruchtig-herber Hopfen (Orange, leicht zitronig), der im weiteren Verlauf stärker wird und die Rauchnote in den Hintergrund drängt, bis man meint, ein stärker gehopftes fränkisches Dunkles vor sich zu haben. Mild rezent. Im Abgang fruchtig-erdiger Hopfen, leicht trocken, angenehm säuerlich abgeschmeckt. Mild bitterer Nachtrunk. - Vorzügliches, vergleichsweise kräftig gehopftes Rauchbier mit nicht zu stark ausgeprägter Rauchnote und schöner, vollmundiger Karamelsüße.

Bottle purchased in Portland, Maine. Dark brown color, tall lacing head that lasts some time. Good smoke aroma and good smoke flavor. I don’t think it is quite up to Schlenkerla or Spezial quality, but this is a good smoked beer.

Bottle 50CL from Erzengel.
Dark ruby body with a big beige head. Arom? is smoke, mineral, salty, black olives. Tastes is smoke, chewey bready, light caramel but still quite dry and drinkable.

500ml Flasche. Ins Glas ergießt sich ein bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch angenehm rauchig, malzig, Karamell. Geschmack leicht rauchig, röstmalzig, würzig.

Clear amber / caramel colour, white head. Aroma of smoke, malts, smoked sausage, light hay. Sweet malty flavour, smoky notes. Sweet finish, lingering ash. Nice.

reddish mahoga ny colour, uge beige-ish off-white head, which lasts for several minutes; aroma of smoked cheese and bacon, maybe some bread and caramel; taste is the same;excellent soked beer - though not a Schlenkerla, but still really good
