Bottle. Aroma is lots of tart red and some dark fruits with oak, cognac, hint of spruce. Medium sourness, light puckering. Body is medium. Finishes with more notes of cognac. Good stuff!

50cl bottle - Pours an unclear reddish brown colour with a tiny frothy beige head that quickly disappeared. Aroma is vinous, and vinegary, tart raspberries and grapes. A tart vinous fruity sour taste, tart raspberries, light vinegary flavours with woody notes and a fruity sour finish.

29/IV/22 - 50cl bottle @ home, BB: 15/II/24, lot 0004 (2022-450) Thanks to ElManana for sharing the bottle!
A little cloudy red brown beer, small creamy white head, unstable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: funky, sourish impression, tannins or wood, vinegar, wood notes, a bit weird and infected? MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sour start, vinegar notes, dry, some tannins, woody, bitter, a bit oxidized. Aftertaste: nice and clean acidity, sourish, vinegar, bitter notes, some kiwi.

Bottle, smallish head, quite clear brown to red and a bit oxidised, aroma of acetone and some wood, a whiff of cinnamon, flavor of caramel, some acetone, cooked apples, hint of brown bread, light to medium sourness. Nice, feels just a touch bland.

The BrewDog Overworks project of sour ales can use some help from experienced brewers I guess – so now presents this collab with Dutch Nevel, with name hinting at the Dutch language (“beide” meaning “both”, underscoring that this is indeed a collab – taking time from both breweries). Described as a ‘Scottish sour ale’ as if this were a new style – thereby creating confusion with actual Scottish ale, which is a very different thing. Thanks to Craftmember. Yellowish pale beige, thin and open head, leaving a thin veil in the middle over a misty, ruddy-caramel brown robe with copper red tinge. Aroma of hard caramel, wet wood, dried passionfruit flesh, sour apples, redcurrant juice, medlar, hints of pear syrup, unripe blackberries, oloroso, dusty dry earth but hardly any cognac. Sour onset in a fruity, crisp way, redcurrant and sour apple impressions, lively carbonated; the lactic and fruity acidity continues and gets a bit puckering, severely drying a basically rounded, caramelly malt core with hazelnutty edge. Lots of drying sourness in the finish, along with tannic woodiness accentuating the dryness further, so that everything does end as bone dry as I was expecting. Not without complexity, an ‘oud bruin’ the 21st-century way, in a sense, but perhaps a tad clean and one-sidedly sour; may well improve a lot with ageing.

Panda at home, thanks to Fergus, 07/02/21. Deep mahogany brown with a decent beige cap that dissipates to a siwrl. Nose is wood must, damp alleyway, berry skins, funk, light acidic nostril tickle, hay bale, sharp raspberry twang. Taste comprises tarte red berry fruits, subtle barrel, damp oak, light funk. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light acidic rise. Decent flavoursome sour.

Bottle from Brewdog sheps bush. A light hazed ruby red brown coloured pour with a small halo of beige head. Aroma is semi sweet and sour tart plum, spicy fruits, candied sugar, berries, grapey oaky funk. Flavour is composed of tart fruits, victoria plum, cranberry, spicy wood, mild pucker, hint of vinegar spice, jammy fruit. Palate is quite sweet, big sour pucker, abrasive, highish carbonation/ Little oaky tannin and grape in the finish. Good stuff.
