Who says winter beers need to be dark and heavy? Fresh Tracks is a light and hoppy IPA that says winter’s dark enough already.

Half-pint, well-kept cask at Doric Arch. Next-to-clear late straw coloured body, bubbly white head leaving dotted spots on the glass. Moderate smell of bread and leafy hops. Quite well balanced taste character of lemony hops, hints of orange and grainy malts beneath. Mild resinous bitter ending. Clean in the mouth. Pleasing after an early morning train journey from Birmingham. (London 07.02.2020).

Cask at Pigs Ear ‘19, day one 03/12/19. Golden blonde with a decent white head. Nose is sweet malts, orange zest, light breads. Taste comprises tangerine, airy malts, grass, melon, toasted grains. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close splashed with mellow hop bitterness. Decent session gear ... perhaps worthy of more than a golde for style ?

Cask at the signal box Euston. 6 minutes before train. A very clear pale gold coloured pour with a lasting frothy white cream. Aroma is light cereal grains, light citrus hop, hint of earth. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, earthy grains, lemon rind, English yeast, pale grains. Little wishy washy. Palate is semi sweet, light, decent cask condition. Good.
