Cask at Pied Bull, Chester. Pours a golden yellow with a medium sized foamy off-white head. There’s sweet malts in the aroma – but not much else. Sweet malts again in the mouth, this time with some underlying bitterness. Quite watery overall. Favour has oranges plus hints of citrus, lime and grapefruit. Some sweetness remains in the finish. This is reasonable if somewhat bland.

Cask, third at the brewpub. Shared with Finn. Clingy lacing from a clear amber body, naked surface. Dried fruity aromas, mid-sweet. Mixed taste of caramel malts, dried fruits and leafy hops. Bittersweet end. Classic Brit bitter, pretty nice. (Chester 26.01.2020).
