Large foamy white head left a creamy top on an unclear chestnut coloured body. Malt & woody aroma. Medium bodied, foamy, dry & clean. Woody, vinous, berries & light hop tastes. Nice enough.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a dark chestnut with minimal scummy off-white head and good lacing. The aroma is mainly malts with hints of stewed apples. In the mouth it starts off sweet, but some bitterness soon comes through. Flavour is mainly traditional hops and marmalade plus traces of raisins, apricot and parkin. Bitterness lasts into the finish. This is a decent traditional bitter.

Third, gravicask, at the 22nd Oxford Beer & Cider Festival. Shared with Finn. Dark amber body, filmy layer, dotted spots. Moderate aromas of stewed fruits. Mixed taste profile of dried fruits, caramel and a backdrop of leafy hops towards a bittersweet ending. Satisfying. (25.10.2019).
