Clear deep amber beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is light and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Caramel malts with a little thin malt cream. Modest alcohol spice. Light fruity whiskey. Touches of wood and crystallised fruits. Light finish finds the whiskey getting a little stronger. Nice.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Deep unclear ruby dark red brown colour with a lasting cream coloured head. Sweet brown sugar aroma, malty dark red and light black fruits. Some vanilla some woodiness. Complex warming aroma. Toffee, fruit, malt, vanilla. In the mouth the barrel ageing hits you first. there is just about enough of the base beer to push through but Iād like to see less wood obvious and more as a prop rather than the main flavour. However saying that that brown sugar malty sweetness of the barley wine is obvious. Some woody presence. Some candied citrus fruits. Certainly one for a cold night and an open wood fire. Decent. Just very sweet. Fruity brown sugar with some good candied citrus flavours, some vanilla and some warming dark fruits. OK.
