The local beer with an international reputation! This rich, satisfying porter has won many an award and has the honour of being included in Roger Protz's acclaimed guide, '300 Beers to Try Before You Die'. The drink itself has an intense aroma of roasted grain, pungent hop resins and bitter chocolate. Dark dried and vinous fruits coat the palate, balanced by roasted malt and peppery hops. The finish is long, dry, bitter and satisfying. A beer to be taken most seriously!

Gravicask, shared with Finn at Spa Valley 9th Beer & Cider Festival. Pitch black in the glass. Bubbly ring to the rim. Spotty lacing. Inviting smell of chocolate malts. mid-sweet. Buttery sweet chocolate flavours offset by vinous bites towards the finish. Medium bodied. Pleasing. (Tunbridge Wells 18.10.2019).

Cask at The Rock, Chiddingfold. Finally tracked down this Protz 300 tick. Pretty indistinct aroma - dark chocolate, herbal. Black with some cola tints in the light. Thin but creamy off-white head. Light bitter, with a sugary chocolate sweetness. Returns to a low key bitterness into the finish. Liqourice and nuts. Medium bodied. Relatively slick but still feels watery. Flsat carb. Long finish. I guess it's more interesting than some of thoe bland British porters I come across but not as comolet a porter as I expected. Aftertaste ain't great.
