The Grainstore Brewery has today launched it’s own keg lager, ‘Purus 4’.

Only available from The Grainstore Brewery Tap, Purus 4 is a crystal clear, refreshing lager at 4.0% abv. Having worked on the project for around six months including bespoke glassware manafactured and imported from Sahm in Germany, the end result is a beautiful Pilsner style drink.

Keg, shared with Finn at the brewpub in Oakham. Clear late straw coloured body, chalk white head, upper part lacing. Grass-fruity nose. Mixed taste of lemony hops and pale malts. Rounded mid-dry fruity ending. Clean in the mouth. Satisfying lager version. (11.02.2019).

Keg at the brewery tap. Pale yellow, clear without much visible carbonation. Stale malt and a hint of gardenia in the aroma. Sweet and slightly spicy taste with a flat and somewhat tasteless malt note. Long cardboardy finish. Worse than the majority of macro lagers. It’s a shame because this brewery can produce decent stuff... Not this time though.
