Ringnes Brewery was founded in 1876 by Amund and Ellef Ringnes, together with investor Axel Heiberg. The famous Ringnes Pilsner was introduced to the market in 1886. From 1913 to 1972, Ringnes brewed a low alcohol beer called Ringnes Landsøl, later replaced by Ringnes Lettøl (Light Beer). In 2015, this beer was relaunched, in a can.

With a golden colour and a full head, this beer has a light aroma of hops and light malt. The taste is suprisingly full with a clean taste, a dry mouthfeel and a rich bitterness.

330 ml can. Clear, rather dark golden body with a nice white head. Aroma is surprisingly malty with a faint hint of dry grass. Flavor is mainly sweet malt with a hint of caramel and very low bitterness. Medium to thin body and decent in aftertastes considering the style. Not bad as a low alcohol pilsner type beer, they even manage to keep the caramel lever pretty low, even with such much malt flavor. Decent low alcohol lager alternative, I just miss some bitterness here to balance the malty sweetness.

Can. A cute looking deep golden beer with a dense, two-finger white head. Some curtains. The aroma is quite malty in a light grainy way, not bad at all though. A generic fruityness, some pine cones and a grassy touch too. It’s medium bodied with a quite high, yet very soft, carbonation level. Rather dry, but with some malty sweetness in the flavor. Grass, a touch of pine cones and a peppery hint and with a too low bitterness I think. The lack of bitterness also makes it a bit sweet in the finish. Anyway, it’s a nice beer considering the ABV and style, I even find it more interesting than the regular Ringnes Pilsener. 151025
