On tap at the brewpub. It has a small, almost beige head over a clear, golden to copper body. The aroma has fruity notes, but most notable is the toffee, which is close to butterscotch, without crossing that border. In the mouth, on the other hand, butterscotch is certainly present, without being overpowering. There’s also toffee and some fruityness, and some bitterness towards the end, which is quite nice and surprisingly fruity. Medium to full body and a bit too effervescent maybe. A pleasant sessionable beer. (080502)

On tap@the brewery. Nice, clear amber body with a small light beige head. Aroma is caramel malt. Flavor is slightly roasted malt and caramel with a discrete bitterness. Medium body and short finish. This beer could go as a typical Norwegian Christmas beer for sale in regular shops e.g. below 4,8% alcohol. It’s a bit better than some of our mainstream “bayer” but I think this might have been more balanced with a brew not considerate the Norwegian alcohol law. And why should they? Only selling their beer at the brewery. A bit more strength, malt and hops would be nice, this is a sign of a brew on the right track but not particular exiting at the moment.

On tap at the Kalfaret, Bergen.
Pours a clear amber colour with small white head and toasted malt nose. Toasted malt and mild caramel taste with notes of some spices (maybe cinnamon). Rather watery palate.

100ml on tap, sampled at the brew house. Clear, deep dark brown body with a ring around the rim of the glass. Notes of dark malt in aroma. Light flavour of caramel malt added a touch of roastiness. Short tail and rather watered (15.11.2007).
