Gravity cask at the Wandsworth Halloween BF 2011. Pours clearish brown with a small, white head. Toasty, lightly roasty dark malt nose. Moderate roast flavor, faint smoke, some toasty brown sugar, light earth. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Mild roast finish, some minerals, light smoke, light cocoa. Pretty solid beer.

Cask Conditioned at The Castle, Furnival St., London
Black color. The aroma is light, with some roasted malt and sourness; light barley coffee too (it’s sold in some country, like Italy, under the name Orzoro). With the dark malts (not caramel, not black), there is a strange sourness, that looks more like wrong fermentation than malt sourness. I think there is some problem here…

From tap at the Brew Wharf. Pours dark brown to black with a fully diminished, initially tan head. Hard roasted malty aroma. Light liqourice annis seed note to a rather dry and mild spiced brew. Ends medium bitter and dry, ligt spiced. Light bodied but rather flavourful.

Half pint in well kept shape served at the right drinking temperature at Cask & Barrel in Edinburgh. Pours a jet black body with some ruby highlights. Low, light brown head. Inviting, rounded smell of sweet dark malts. Comprehensive in flavour with a nice blend of black coffee malts and dark chocolate, even with the support of dark fruits. Developing bitter ending. Likeable (23.10.2008)
