On tap. Pours an opaque black with a tiny off-white head - just a thin film really. Somewhat odd farty aroma, some sulphur and overripe fruit - not particularly roasty. Medium-bodied only, low in carbonation, roast and chocolate accents. Comes slightly tart with a distinct malty bitter finish. No real traces of the cherries - if not the tartness? Not overly hot really. 111112

Keg, half-pint, 10.5% abv, at King William IV brewpub. Rich lacework from a fading, tan coloured head. Devil black body. Aromatic with chocolate malts with semi-tart berries behind. Cocoa powder up front developing into a taste of dark fruits and anise offset by acid berries to the ending. Full bodied. Nice evening sipper in east London, 24.11.2012.

Draft. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, cherries, cocoa beans, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of wood, brettanomyces, lacto, and chocolate, leading to a dry roasted finish.
