Bottle. Pours a hazy dark reddish brown colour with a beige head. Aroma with lots of smoke, smoked meat, camp fire and woodchips. The flavour mirrors the aroma. Has a slick and silky mouth feel, medium body and a light bitterness. Smoked and delicious. Maybe a bit one dimensional.

500ml bottle, #645, 6.4 % abv, bought at Vinmonopolet, Langnes. Deep copper coloured body, hazy last pour. Dissipating beige head, clingy lacing. Peaty aroma with hints of farmhouse. Smoked malty flavours with hints of meat added by spruce and a caramel bite. Mid-sweet ending. Medium bodied. Nice with our chicken pizza. (Tromsø 09.09.2017).

Bottle, at Cardinal. An almost clear one, very dark brown in color and with a minimal-sized off-white head. Smoked, bonfire-ish nose with caramel and dried fruits. The flavor has some sweetness, and the same smoked, bonfire maltyness. Less caramel and dried fruits, but they’re still there. Medium to full body, quite dry, with a low level of carbonation. An interesting one, lacking head and body. 131019

500 ml bottle at Cardinal. Unclear dark brown body with a rather small beige head. Intense, strong smoked aroma with bonfire and smoked meat. Flavor is quite sweet malt totally dominated by smoke, bonfire and smoked meat. Low bitterness. The body feels fine and balanced and the aftertaste is more of the same smoked stuff that seems to go on forever. A bit difficult to rate this one, definitively not balanced on the smoke side, still never intended to be either. So this end up pretty much how much the drinker appreciate the intense smoke flavor. I’m frankly not quite sure myself, but at least find this somehow more balanced than a few Bamberg style smoked lager versions. This one has more malty sweetness and body for the experience. Not a top score, but not possible for me to slaughter the whole thing either as this is made like this by intension. Actually a bit better after a few more sips and probably something I could get more used to. For me it’s a bit like rating a sour beer if you don’t like sour beer – difficult and a bit unfear.
