Today we release Bastille! A biere de garde, that is kind of a close cousin to the Saison style. Brewed in commemoration of Bastille Day (and, coincidentally, head pub brewer Wil's 1st Anniversary at Rev!), it is a refreshing, 6.6% with a balanced malt aroma and fruity esters combined with a slightly tart finish. Come try one today at both the brewpub and taproom.

Tap at Revolution. Hazy amber with creamy off white head. Massive cloves, some caramel, bitter herbs. They say this is supposed to be a French style beer, but it has loads of super strong clove notes almost like a Leffe. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with creamy carbonation. Meh.

Location: Draft at the Milwaukee Ave Brewpub, 7/16/14
Aroma: The nose is fruity and yeasty mostly, it has noticeable spice, aome some earthy notes
Appearance: It has a copper-amber color to it, with a somewhat frothy khaki colored head and lace
Flavor: The taste is light-medium sweet, some spice flavors, and a bit of bitterness as well
Palate: The body is medium, it has a softer carbonation, and it finishes lightly dry and a little slick
Overall Impression: This is a pretty interesting beer. There’s some nice stuff going on here, and the combination works solidly together. I have no major complaints about. I’d drink this one again.

A reddish amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light plums and caramel, light mineral notes, barley candy. In mouth, a sweet fruity caramel malt with light vinous notes, a bit of mineral character, OK. On tap at brewery.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear reddish amber with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a lot a good amount of fruit and spice with a bit of a sweet grain backbone. Flavor has more of an earthy grain/bread start that’s joined by light fruit and spice in the finish.
