Put to the people’s choice, we asked you what flavour combination you'd like to see in an updated version of our Classic range porter. With a landslide victory, Britain’s love of biscuits prevailed, and the second iteration of Northern Star is a decadent chocolate, caramel and biscuit porter.

Can from Tesco; opaque brown pour with a frothy tan head, aroma has big chocolate, taste has biscuity malts, dark chocolate, sweet caramel, pretty much drinks like what it says on the tin.

Thick, voluminous tan-cream head over virtually black beer; shards of lace. Well indeed; chocolate: check √, caramel: check √, biscuit: check √ . If as on had liquidized chocolatewaffles. Drier in the mouth, ashy hints, but again lots of not purely black chocolate. And biscuits. Quite think impression - but not really anywhere full-bodied. Slick, viscous, good carbonation. A bit too biscuity, if you ask me. Oh well. Txs to Stef!

So despite the recipe having been changed, and it now being described as a Chocolate Caramel Biscuit Porter, as opposed to a Mocha Porter, I'm still getting coffee more than anything. Pours near black with a frothy beige head, and sweet coffee on the nose. The taste is mostly sweet coffee, slightly subdued compared to the aroma, with hints of chocolate and liquorice in the mix too, with some dry bitterness in the finish
