Our Old Fashioned cocktail-inspired barley wine reborn after additional ageing in bourbon barrels. A sweet, rich base is embellished with infusions of orange zest and augmented with bourbon aged Rye IPA and sour beer for 'bitters' style contrast.

375ml bottle from the Beer Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a murky dark brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy off white head. The aroma is boozy bourbon and caramel. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, rich, roasty, dry oak, boozy, nutty, earthy, light caramel, floral palate. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle from A Hoppy Place, Windsor. Boozy streak to the malty nutty figgy rye bread aroma. Opaque murky dark brown. Foamy beige head soon develops a large bald spot. The barrel-aging's effect is complimentary rather than imposing. Sweet and sour berries with molasses and dried fruit. Lemon juice. A boozy bourbon sour edge. Medium-heavy bodied. Creamy. Gloopy. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long astringent finish. Lovely warming stuff. A great balance of flavours.

A bit lighter on the mouthfeel and abv than I'd 5/5 but even so it's deliciously great to sip on, mild cocktail notes, sweet sweet caramel and bourbon toffee, perfect sipper.

"Head"gone in seconds; muddy brown beer. Alcoholic nose, punch-in-the-face; nutty, X-mas cake liquidized. Sweet with (old) port obvious, raisins, X-mas cake, vanilla. Lots of fusels, alcoholbomb. Feels like able to keep a spoon upright. Slick, furious alcoholheat; low carbonation. Ohho. Talk about firewater. Sweet, but complex and good.

Medium body, oily. Sweet, boozy, lots of bourbon and toffee, zesty citrus, maybe some spiciness too or I'm just imagining it. Interesting take, wouldn't have recognized it as an OF but very nice.
