Like a clear night lit by stars, this silky Belgian-inspired stout balances light notes of fruit and sweetness with roasty malt. Inspired by late evenings spent around a crackling campfire, North Sky is brewed to merge lightness and darkness into a super-sippable stout.

16 oz. can from Bier Cellar, Portland, Maine. Pours a super dark brown color with a large, thick beige head and excellent retention. Great lacing too. Almost no aroma (strange). Very muted flavors of dark roasted malts and a hint of yeast in the finish. Very smooth and clean. The 7.5% ABV is invisible. Medium+ body. Semi-creamy mouthfeel. Low carbonation and low bitterness too. This beer has a lot of great elements, yet the flavors are very subtle, and I'm not a fan of the fruity yeast addition.

Big pounder can but is this stout or impy stout? At nearly 8% I think it may be the latter? Pour is big and black with a tan creamy head. Slight malty nose. Well, after the first taste, it does approach the taste of an impy stout yet some of the roastiness of a plain old stout is there too. After the first swig, I start to get this medium nasty astringent phenolic bitterness that gradually builds in the back of my throat. Weird and unpleasant. Nothing like the smooth damp old aged half burnt campfire wood feel you get with a well made stout, just plain rude burnt nasty bitter wood. Not sure why this stuff is rated so high here. AS far as smoothness goes, I'm thinking I just got a bad can? Not impressed.

473ml can bought online from Cloudwater and drunk at home. Dark brown and translucent with a full but quickly dissipating khaki head. Malty aroma, some chocolate and a fair bit of aniseed. Sweet, refreshing taste, more aniseed and fudge, with a bitterness at the weighty finish.full body, a bit heavy for the ABV, with medium carbonation. A fairly simple stout done well.

Svart med lyst brunt skum. Lukter melkesjokolade, nøtter og noe kaffe. Middels fylde. Noe søtlig, lett bitter. Smaker kakaopulver, kaffe, nøtter og mørkt brød. Middels lang.

4 oz. draft. The body is indeed smooth and silky. Roast shows a nice bolder character. shows a underlying dark fruit character in the middle of this sip. real good.
