Cask at the Cardinals Hat. Almost black colour with a slim head. Aroma and taste are dry malty. Not much chocolate or hazelnut. Medium body.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours almost black with a small beige head. Roast malts to the fore in the nose, along with nuts and some chocolate. In the mouth, the instant impression is of the smooth creamy texture. Plenty of fruitiness too with cherries and dark fruits plus nuts and a hint of chocolate. This is very nice indeed.

Cash takeout from the brewery. Pours very dark brown with a thin bubbly head. Aroma is coffee, hazelnut and chocolate. Taste has coffee and hazelnut.
