Named in honour of the inquisitive and extremely “fursty” ferrets of the Gribble Inn, a celebrated golden brown ale, full of character.

At the heart of many a countryside village can be found an inn. A place where locals go to relax after a long day. At one such inn, rumour has it that inquisitive ferrets would sneak to the back door to cheekily sample the local brew. A sweet nutty palate, hoppy aroma and a hint of Seville oranges, give this tawny amber ale its distinctive personality. Recommended with smooth and creamy West Country Cheddar or indulgent pork pies and mustard.

Clear bottle, 13C. Light amber with a light beige head. Aroma of fruit, mild sweetshop spices and caramel. Gentle and quite complex sweetness with pears and caramel with just balancing spicy bitterness. Mouthfeel is surprisingly alive. Nothing flash, but a perfectly acceptable bitter (although many people here don’t look like they think there is such a thing).

Bottle. Color - amber. Malt with little touch of caramel in aroma. Taste light sweet with slightly bitter finish. Not so bad beer, but definitely not memorable.

Smells of alcohol, hops, corn starch, honestly just smells like an average lager. Looks okay, nothing exciting. Has a nice smooth taste and nice mouthfeel, but very uncomplex with just some malt notes and a slightly dry finish. Pretty average, really.

(bottle) Clear, copper colour with a medium sized off-white foamy head. Slightly sweet and sourish (cara-)malty, almost a bit ascorbic nose with slightly gassy, skunky notes and spicy hops. Light-bitter flavour, light bodied, crispy mf. Soft malty taste with subtle citrus-fruity notes and a mild hoppy blend, leading into a dry and moderately bitter finish. Not particularly exciting (11.VII.09).

Biggish offwhite shiny head. Coppery body with light carbonation. Caramelly vanilla aroma with wooden resiny notes. Dryish vanilla and caramel taste with metallic watery wooden notes. Thinnish body. Slightly watery mouthfeel. Dry vanilla and roasty wood aftertaste, sort of salty. Quite nice, but not very exciting. (0.5l bottle, Tesco, London.)

50cl bottle. Pours clear copper with a white head. Nose is grainy, metallic and vaguely hoppy. Watery mouthfeel and taste. Pretty weak taste overall. Some caramel and bread and very thin and flat. Not impressed.
