Pours viscously to small russett rim over virtually black beer. Deep, complex nose, with fusels, dried dark fruit, alcoholic reduction with fruit & brown sugar. Alcohol & fusels, elderberry syrup, again dark fruit as plums. Coffee - true, but quite hidden. Very faint sourish lining. Very syrupy, oily; low carbonation, alcoholheat. Not bad - and that the fusels dominate the coffee is quite OK with me! Txs to Stef!

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with minimally late awakening, small, creamy, fading, beige head. Mildly roasty, chocolately and mildl yspicy, dark malty aroma, notes of chocolate, dark chocolate, coffee, cocoa, weak fruity overtones with a touch of plum. Taste is chocolately, mildly toasty, minimally spicy, dark malty, notes of chocolate, dark chocolate, coffee, cocoa, mild roasty bitterness, some dark caramel, burnt caramel; minimally warming, alcoholic finish. Viscous texture, smooth, soft and silky palate, medium to fine, soft carbonation. Homogeneous, harmonious - very nice.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown, very small tan head. Aroma is coffee, molasses, chocolate, light wood, vanilla. Full body. Flavour is intense dark malts with lots of chocolate, caramel, and sweet fudge. Prunes and sweet fig, medium roast coffee. Fruity coffee finish. Lovely BA imperial porter.

Bottle. It pours a black body under a minimalistic beige head. The aroma has a good dash of boozyness, with coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts and hints of dark dried fruit and licorice. It's full-bodied, warming and tannin rich and nicely carbonated, with a quite intense flavor. Alcohol, wood, dark dried fruits, dark chocoalte and some coffee. Roasted malts, cocoa. Intense finish too. There's lots of good things going on here, but it's too intense in many ways. 230408

somewhat mild or faint aroma, roasted malts, almost slightly tart note, faint coffee, faint chocolate. flavor is salty, roasted malty, chili bite, faint coffee, faint cacao/cocoa. Very nice tight dry flavor there is what I feel like is a chili bite, perhaps it's just the alc. alc. is extreme well hidden by the way. not much wood. The treatment fits very well with the kind of imp stout and imp porter buxton makes in the first place. after a while i can better sense the coffee, very aromatic coffee.

Oldschool barrel aged stout (porter) from Buxton, like they do really well, with some adjuncts thrown in. Not thick, but smooth. Earthy roasty, nicely balanced barrel ageing. Coffee and cacoa are there, and everybody knows they work well with roast.
