Deep amber in colour, Old Winter Ale is a strong beer with a malt, cookie and liquorice aroma. The prominent Crystal malts add sweet, nutty flavours, balanced by floral notes from Target, Challenger and Northdown hops.

Bottle, 5.3%. Sweetish and malty aroma. Clear brown colour. Big stable light brown head. The flavour is spicy and herbal, teaish, sweetish with a mild bitterness to (almost) balance. After more sips, the herbs fade away but the bitterness and maltiness stay resulting in a more balanced beer than I though to begin with.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy coppr brown with small off-white head. Clear aroma of malt, with notes of hops and barrel and touches of spices. Bitter, hoppy flavour, with rough but sweetish malty notes and bready touches. Subtle hints of dried fruit. Rough aftertaste with hints of diacethylene. Not bad but not very inspiring, either.

Bottle, 0.50l. Clear amber brown color with large frothy off-white head, some floating particles and sparkling appearance. Aroma of caramel, toffee, grassy hops, dust and dried fruit’s hints. Taste starts with light sweet caramel and toffee, follows by slight grassy and fruity acidity, crisp and dry mouthfeel and medium bitter finish. Medium body, slick texture and lively carbonation in palate. Nice brew, although not so warming as I would expect...

The beer starts thick, rich and fruity. Plums, dried cherries, oranges. These aroma get more intense to the mainpart where there is a dry malty body and moderate bitterness coming in. The aftertaste has lots of dried fruit, malty bitterness and hints of grain. Very rich and intense, hints of dark roasted malt, very dry.
A great intense fruity and dry Winter Ale!! Taste much more intense than only 5.3%!

Draught @ Sherlock Holmes, Aarhus. Pours clear copper brown with small off-white head. Dusty aroma with notes of hops and yeast. Bitter and dusty flavour, with notes of yeast and hops. Lingering, bitter and dusty aftertaste. Well-balanced and enjoyable but nothing really mind-blowing.
