Deep amber in colour, Old Winter Ale is a strong beer with a malt, cookie and liquorice aroma. The prominent Crystal malts add sweet, nutty flavours, balanced by floral notes from Target, Challenger and Northdown hops.

slőször túlságosan is alkoholos és édesen gejl, aztán ahogy szellőzik kijönnek belőle mindenféle aromák: mahagóni, karamell, mézeskalács, szilvásgombóc. igazán karácsonyi sör.

Bottle. Copper color. Caramel, grapes and pear in the aroma. Butter. Alcoholic (whisky) for its ABV. A firm dry hopbitterness. A fine strong ale, would love to try this cask conditioned.

0.5 l bottle from 'Trinkgut Knödgen', best before October 2019. Clear, deep reddish amber with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, floral-fruity and slightly herbal-grassy aroma of raisins, tea leaves, plums and some molasses. Gently sweet, malty, slightly bitter, fruity, gently herbal-grassy and a little floral taste of raisins, tea leaves, plums, some molasses and a touch of marmelade, followed by a short, moderately bitter, gently herbal-grassy and slightly dry finish. Medium body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very pleasant Ale, really well-balanced and round, pretty deep for that abv as well.

On tap. Pours a clear deep amber with a medium, creamy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, dried fruit, licorice and spice. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, bread, plum, raisin, licorice, spice and a hint of chocolate in a dry, bitter hop finish. Medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Not bad.

Not much that qualifies this beer to be called winter. It’s a malt backbone is nice but it is terribly astringent for a bottled beer. D&S Dresden
