440ml can from Mad Squirrel, High Wycombe. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a lasting frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, light hazelnut and liqourice. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter and sweet, with a dry, roasty, nutty, liqourice, light ashtray, sweet lactose palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Can from the brewery. Appearance - deep brown to black. Off-white head. Nose - general nuttiness and can make the jump to walnut within that. Light creamy chocolate too. Taste - hazelnuts and a green walnut note for sure, this time. Again, very light chocolate, but much drier than the nose. Palate - light bodied, a bit thin for a sweet stout. Dry, roasty finish. Overall - this ond didn't work for me!
