Helloooooo Hazy-O! Our latest off-centered innovation is now available coast-to-coast!

Brewed with truckloads of oats and wheat for a full body, Hazy-O! is then liberally dry-hopped to deliver juicy tropical notes of citrus, mango and pineapple! But the real star is our secret ingredient ... oats! This Hazy IPA uses four (yes, four!) types of oats. And you might be thinking, "why so many oats?" Each does something a little different for your sipping experience...

Malted oats contribute a dreamy cloudiness.
Rolled oats create a silky mouthfeel.
Naked oats give a nice toasted and nutty flavor.
And oat milk, oh the oat milk! The pièce de ré·sis·tance of this glorious IPA provides an amplified haze and mouthfeel.

This foundation of four oat formats creates a target, allowing the beer’s bright and juicy hops to hit the flavorful bullseye. Smooth and refreshing, Hazy-O! drinks like a 5% ABV sipper, even thought it's a 7.1% ABV powerhouse!

As the first-ever nationally distributed oat milk-centric IPA, Hazy-O! took almost a year of R&D to perfect. By enlisting the help of oat milk scientists at Elmhurst 1925 (a family-owned, plant-based milk producer out of New York), we were able to ensure we harnessed all the goodness of oat milk using their Unsweetened Milked Oats, made with only three simple ingredients - oats, water and a bit of salt.

Playful and palate-pleasing, you'll find Hazy-O! housed in maroon and gold cans that feature intricate and storyful artwork with hand-drawn hops and wheat, the “hazy-o” sun setting over the water and a four-ringed bullseye to represent the four oat varieties used in the brewing process.

It's been a labor of love to bring this one to life, but one sip and you'll find yourself saying ... "ooohhhh that's good!"

'...the 7-percent-plus ABV beer isn’t just a parlor trick. The IPA actually mixes four different forms of oats—malted, milled, naked, and milked—to achieve its golden-hazed glory.' - Food And Wine

Can in the Outback joint in Laguna Hills at lunchtime on 9th December 2021. Hazed golden body, decent white crown on top. Pleasant citrussy nose and taste, leaning towards a mini-sweetness rather than bitter or sour. Decent!

On tap at Homestead foggy light pale yellow orange with a thin white head I trust aromatic and spicy in the aromas and flavors. Clean and light bodied.

Pours hazy orange. The aroma of of citrusy, resinous hops. The flavor is mild to moderately bitter with ample malty sweetness, citrus, and quite a lot of hop resin. Medium bodied and fairly good.

Up front, far from my favorite style but I can appreciate a good IPA. I have a 12 oz can coming back with me from Houston. Pouring into my ABGB tulip glass to see an opaque, gold liquid topped with an almost white skim of fine bubbles. The scent is tropical, a good start, and mowed grass. And the taste is not bad either, mango, pineapple, lemon and varnish. I kinda like the sweet/bitter play. Nice but my boat isn’t rocked.

This review was imported from my RateBeer ratings.

12 oz. can, 7.1% ABV

AROMA: Wonderful aromas of sweet citrus like mango, orange, and pineapple! There are also some subtle hints of oats, but they are fleeting.

APPEARANCE: Pours a hazy, light-gold color with a dirty-white head that dissipates quickly with minimal lacing. I was actually a little disappointed with how quickly the head dissipated. However, while it lasted, the beer looked incredible in my glass stein.

TASTE: The sweet citrus is what you first get and then there is some mild bitterness on the finish. The main flavors are mango and orange (or possibly tangerine). For an IPA, the bitterness is quite low. However, the sweetness is not overpowering as you still get some bitterness on the backend.

MOUTHFEEL: Full-bodied with a nice, smooth texture that goes down easy. Oddly enough, as "fizzy" as it looks in the glass, I found the carbonation level to only be average.

OVERALL: I really didn't know what to expect from this beer. I am a HUGE fan of their 90 Minute IPA, but am much less enamored with their 60 Minute IPA. So when my local grocer was having a BOGO sale on all Dogfish brews, I figured I didn't have anything to lose. I figured I would pick up a 6-pack of the 90 Minute IPA (that I love), and try a 6-pack of the Hazy-0 for "free". I gotta say, I am quite surprised with how happy I am with this beer. It is nice and juicy with some wonderful flavors that don't overpower, and the bitterness level is relatively low. I will definitely be buying this quite often, as I think it has taken over my #2 spot for IPAs. The previous holder of that spot was Terrapin Luau Krunkles. Of course the #1 spot is the Dogfish 90 Minute, but I don't see how anyone is going to knock that off its pedestal.

On tap at Sam Adams Brewhouse Manchester, NH airport. Appearance is opaque dark yellow-light brown with no sparkle, 2-finger width fluffy foam white head with excellent retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is nondescript subtle to moderate stone fruit/berry. Taste is strong nondescript sweet stone fruit, melon, berry, late mild malt counterbalance. Mouthfeel is medium side of light to medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, nice look and nothing wrong with it but nothing particularly memorable. Pretty pedestrian for a brewery with such a strong pedigree.

For some reason I was thinkin this would be a session IPA, well it ain't. Has a slight warming sensation going down and now I see its over 7%. Starts out not as viscous as its getting. Pour is certainly hazy, but not muddy. Its not terribly bitter like most domestic IPA but it does leave a dull older hop feeling on the palate. In the middle the buds start to get a little numb. Not sure if I can pick out any toasted or nutty flavor. Also, it does not come across as naked, fersher. Finish? IPA whatever: there, you have it.

12oz can c/o Anndiesel. The oatmilk almost lends a milkshake IPA feel to it, albeit mild. Pleasantly unique, well balanced, drinkable. One of the better Dogfish head beers I've had in awhile. Good.
