Zoigl Keller Lager
In northeastern Bavaria during medieval times Zoigl would be brewed in a communal brewhouse. Each brewer would then take some home to ferment in their own cellar. When the beer was ready they would put up a 6 pointed star called a Zoiglstern. This signified that the beer was ready to drink to folks passing by and people would just walk into brewers homes to enjoy the beer until it was gone.
5.1% and brewed with German barley and German noble hops. Medium bodied and swinging in somewhere between a Helles and Marzen on the malty scale. A perfect lager for cold weather.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Blond, a darker shade, hazy. The aroma is mild, but nice, with bready character. Dry and crisp mouthfeel; nice malt base, fresh breadcrust, biscuits, chewy (7+); the bitterness is decent as well, with grassy and spicy touch. Clean beer, very good.

Probably worth noting that it's not just in medieval times; zoigl is still a thing in Oberpfalz. This is hoppy, but also has a fair bit of sweetness. I mean, it's far too soft for zoigl - that's some of the most minerally lager out there. The amber malts aren't bad, making this more towards a Vienna, but of course there's at least one communal beer traditional doing marzen, in Neuhaus an der Pegnitz. I mean, this is a solid beer but I wouldn't say it bears much resemblance to actual zoigl.

Good medium copper body and modest foam. Soft lagery caramel on the nose, a bit too soft and nondescript. Flavour is round and fruity with biscuit and caramel notes, leading to a full and smooth finish. Refreshing and easy, though a little thin.

Clear gold with a decent white head. Grains with a touch of honey. Lots of raw grains and a touch of bitterness. Decent.
