Cask. Old Crown, Handsworth, Sheffield. Clear, deep amber colour. Thick and creamy, cream coloured head. Got to love a swan neck and a sparkler. Nose has plenty of the mixed peel. Some cake fruits. Some hop spice. Taste is fruity sweet. Some vine fruits. Light body. Smooth as you like (than swan neck and sparkler has kicked the shit out of this). Dry, fruity finish. For a beer with a flashing light pump clip, it’s not too bad.

Bottle that Dad shared - cheers! Amber-chestnut with a thick beige head. Rich mouthfeel but a slightly powdery texture. Toffee, marmalade, a little plum, a touch of spice and a decent earthy bitterness in the finish. Slightly odd having a Christmas beer on Easter day, but nevertheless this is probably the best I’ve had from Black Sheep - not bad at all!

Bottle from Tesco, Burnley. Dark reddish clear brown with a thin head. Has a winer warmer texture and taste with dark and roasted malts sharing a full flavour in this respect. Not sweet, with a light bitterness, it has a nice palatable texture.

Bottle from Morrison’s. Poured a rather dull mid brown with a long lasting creamy off-white head. Aroma was malty, chocolate, molasses, and light citrus and christmas spices. Medium sweetness, quite a heavy bitterness. Medium bodied, slick texture.

500ml bottle from Tesco - Body is a reddish copper colour with a tight cream head. Malt aroma, a bit of citrus too. Soft mouthfeel gives this a chance, but it just comes across as just another beer. I had one called Blitzen on Xmas Day - this is not a patch on that.

Bottle at home picked up by Sarah from Tesco. Amber / reddy coloured pour with lasting cream froth. Aroma is mineral, oyster, caramel, stale spices, cinamon, little honey. Later a bit soapy on the nose. Flavour is composed of charred wood, burnt toast, unrefined sugars. little plum jam, cinamon is nicely balanced. Lingering acrid burnt toast note is not good. Palate is semi sweet with moderate carbonation. Meh
