In Tudor times spices were only used for the best dishes and drinks and so we have taken these historic ingredients to brew a unique style of Imperial Stout. Rich, dark and creamy, the spices provide balance to the flavours of dark roasted malts to create a complex and characterful beer with notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and citrus.

20/11/2020. Bottle from BEER:shop, St. Albans. Pours very dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is nicely spiced, with nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon and pepper, chocolate, roasted malt, and a medicinal edge. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium body, average carbonation. Lightly spiced and warming to finish, enjoyable at home on a cold November lockdown evening.

Bottle from the brewery. It’s the slightly stronger 8.5% 2018 Vintage. Black colour with a thick tan head. Aroma is light cinnamon, spicey and rich malty. Taste spice and light sweet hints of roasted bitter. Full rich body.

Bottle picked up from the brewery. Consumed at home Sunday 27th January 2019 whilst cooking the Guardian perfect Fish Pie. Pours black with a beige head, fruity and spicy, soft in the mouth. A little dusty chocolate, boozy, it's good however it's not great. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6
