Beware of the ‘Event Horizon’ because once you pass the point of no return, there’s no coming back. A ton of oats combined with 20kg of sweet cherry puree and concentrated extract will ensure you’re not bothered about crossing that line.

On tap at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours almost black with minimal cream head. Aroma is generally sweet with liquorice and candy. Sweetnewss continues in the mouth where the texture is creamy. Initially the mian flavour is cherries, but gradually marzipan overtakes this, to be eventually dominant. Some hints of roast malts as well. Finish is fruity. This is a decent stout – though I was unable to detect any oatmeal.

York Beer Festival 2018. Very dark ruby red with cherry dominant in its taste and aftertaste, and always with a strength to its subdued roasted malts.
